Grant Smillie

Grant SmillieAccording to Mixmag apparently it’s not enough just to DJ anymore. Luckily for Grant, not is he not only one of Australia’s hardest working and in demand DJ’s, he is also an acclaimed producer, radio host and record label owner.

One half of TV ROCK, Grant as a producer alongside compatriot Ivan Gough have broken all dance records in Australia. TV ROCK has spent the longest time inside the top 10 charts in history, won 2 ARIA awards for their debut single ‘Flaunt It’ appearing on more than 3 million compilations world wide. TV ROCK are regularly heard on the Pete Tong’s Essential Selection and have recently collaborated with Dave Spoon, Dirty South and Richard Dinsdale with a string of releases slated for 2008 on their imprint Bimbo Rock.

The duo have also achieved 7 #1 ARIA club chart positions for their remixes and have remixed the likes of Groove Armada, Armand Van Helden, Supermode, Fedde Le Grand, Josh Wink, Murk and Paul Van Dyk to name but a few.

As well as his busy production schedule, Grant hosts ‘Overdrive’ on the Nova network nationally alongside Vicious Vinyl boss and friend John Course- it is the most listened to dance show in Australia. He is also resident as superclub ‘Onelove’ where he has mixed 2 Onelove CD’s alongside Carl Kennedy and Kaz James as well as the forthcoming Onelove Sound Machine with Crookers and Matt Nugent in February and Sessions for Ministry of Sound in June.

Grant was voted #1 Victorian DJ in the 2006 Inthemix poll and is also an ambassador for Pioneer Pro DJ in Australasia. In 2007 Grant launched the ‘Audio Riot’mix CD on his Bimbo Rock label to great reviews and in 2008 has bookings throughout Miami, Canada, UK, Europe, Greece and Ibiza as well as his home country.

TV ROCK are set to drop their new single early 2008 so keep your eyes and ears on this Australian dance music heavyweight.
